  • Mammal Paleoecology from the Late Early Pleistocene Sites of the Dandiero Basin (Eritrea), With Emphasis on the Suid Record

Open Access•Tsegai Medin, Bienvenido Martinez-Navarro et al.•CHAPTER•African Paleoecology and Human…•2022

In the East African Rift System, Plio-Pleistocene environmental instability triggered major environmental changes, which in turn influenced patterns of mammal diversification, dispersal, and turnover (Bobe and Eck, 2001; O’Regan et al., 2005, 2011b; Hernández-Fernández and Vrba, 2006; Martínez-Navarro, 2010; Patterson et al., 2014), including hominin evolution (Behrensmeyer, 2006; Bailey and King, 2011; Potts, 2013; Antón et al., 2014).

  • Pleistocene Landscape Variability Recorded in the Homo-Bearing Dandiero Basin (Eritrea)

  • Latest Holocene depositional history of the southern Venice Lagoon, Italy

    Open Access•Marcella Roner, Massimiliano Ghinassi et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2017•References: 1

Analyzing the signatures of landscape changes in the stratigraphic record is crucial to refine our knowledge of tidal landform dynamics and represents a first step toward the development of predictive morphodynamic models. The southern Venice Lagoon (Italy) is particularly suited to analyze modifications in the depositional environment and, consequently, in the sedimentary record because of the remarkable changes that occurred in the last centuri…

  • Facies associations of the northern Dandiero Basin (Danakil depression, Eritrea, including the Pleistocene Buya homo site)

Open Access•Mauro Papini, Massimiliano Ghinassi et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2014

The Dandiero Basin is located on the northern part of the 300 km-long Danakil depression. The geologic succession filling the Dandiero Basin is up to 1000 m thick and consists of three synthems, inascending order: the Early-to-Middle Pleistocene Maebele Synthem of fluvio-lacustrine origin; the Late Pleistocene Curbelu Synthem of alluvial deposits and the Late Pleistocene to Holocene Samoti Synthem alluvio-eolian sand. This study and map (1:5000 s…

  • Geological map of Pliocene-Pleistocene deposits of the Ambra and Ombrone valleys (Northern Siena Basin, Tuscany, Italy)

Open Access•Valeria Bianchi, Massimiliano Ghinassi et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Maps•2013

The study area is located across the Chianti Ridge (Tuscany, Italy), between the Upper Valdarno Basin and the Siena Basin. This area covers about 25 km(2), forming a narrow belt oriented N-S and drained by the Ambra and Ombrone creeks, which flow northward and southward, respectively. Field mapping was carried out at 1:10,000 scale through an allostratigraphic-sedimentological approach. The study area deposits represent the infill of a SW-drainin…

  • Stratigraphic context and paleoenvironmental significance of minor taxa (Pisces, Reptilia, Aves, Rodentia) from the late Early Pleistocene paleoanthropological site of Buia (Eritrea)

Open Access•Lorenzo Rook, Massimiliano Ghinassi et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Evolution•2013•Cited by: 5•References: 35

  • Stratigraphic context and taxonomic assessment of the large cercopithecoid (Primates, Mammalia) from the late Early Pleistocene palaeoanthropological site of Buia (Eritrea)

Open Access•Lorenzo Rook, Massimiliano Ghinassi et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Evolution•2010•Cited by: 7•References: 16
