Methods for estimating population total, age distribution and vital rates in family reconstitution studies
New methods are proposed for use in family reconstitution studies for estimating population totals age distribution and vital rates. Standard family reconstitution methods do not yield these measures. The methods proposed assume that the age-specific mortality rates of the reconstituted population and the population not reconstituted are the same and that information on age at death is available.
