Changes in life expectancy and in active life expectancy may have effects on the fiscal integrity of both the Social Security and Medicare programs. Analysis of the fiscal stability of these programs shows that the most serious problem may be the growth of Medicare expenditures projected to surpass, in about 2024, Social Security costs. Changes in Contraceptive Use in Bulgaria, 1995–2000
Comparison of results from national surveys conducted in Bulgaria in 1995 and 2000 reveal little overall change in use of modern contraceptives. Dramatic increases occurred, however, among women younger than 25 who entered their reproductive period after the end of the state socialist period. This finding suggests that contraceptive gains in the country will come largely as a cohort‐replacement process. From these data, no separate program impact…

Institutional and Period Determinants of Baccalaureate Degrees From Historically Black Colleges and Universities: A Research Note
This research examines institutional and period variables associated with the annual number of four - year , baccalaureate degrees granted from historically Black colleges and universities ( HBCUs ) during the time series 1968 - 1993 . Separate models are estimated for public ( n=38 ) and private ( n=45 ) HBCUs . The results indicate that , in the public schools , for every 100 undergraduates enrolled 7 . 3 degrees are granted annually . The rate…
