Determinants of adults’ solo living in Canada
Family Policies in Quebec and the Rest of Canada
Given its unique demographic situation, and its desire to be in control of its own destiny, Quebec has evolved family policies that differ considerably from those of the rest of Canada. Men's life course trajectories
Making use of retrospective information gathered through a 2001 national survey in Canada, we examined the timing of transitions and life course trajectories starting from events experienced early in life to events that usually happen later in life. The subjects of the study were men born from 1926 to 1975, and the analyses were done by 5‐year birth cohorts and by social status. Results of the analysis showed that there have been significant chan…
Patterns of Age Variability in Life Course Transitions

For family events such as home-leaving, first union, first marriage, and first and last birth there was a move towards narr…

Youth Integration and Social Capital
Integration is social cohesion measured at the individual level. This article examines three of its dimensions-inclusion, participation, and belonging-using data gathered from the General Social Surveys on Time Use. It describes the inclusion and participation of Canadians aged 15 to 29 years in 1986, 1992, and 1998; examines differences by age group and gender; and explores the effects of human and social capital of individuals, families, and co…
