  • Evidence of the File Drawer/Publication Bias Problem in Organization Research: An Affirmative Replication of Dalton, Aguinis, Dalton, Bosco, and Pierce (2012)

    Open Access•Jennifer A Wagner•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•2025

The file drawer problem and related publication bias have effect when research not published for reasons including statistically nonsignificant results, small effects, or small samples, is overlooked when collecting studies for quantitative meta-analyses, resulting in meta-analytic estimates that are larger than true effects. In a replication of a study by Dalton, Aguinis, Dalton, Bosco, & Pierce, (2012), I examined the implications of this probl…

  • Uncertainty in diversity: Language shift and language planning in Papua New Guinea, a Kala case study

Christine Schreyer, Jennifer A Wagner et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Multilingual and…•2022•Cited by: 1•References: 18

Since independence in 1975, Papua New Guinea, the most linguistically diverse country in the world, has had both unofficial and official policies of mother-tongue education. However, limited resources and support for mother-tongue education has led communities to incorporate bottom-up language planning as well. In particular, this paper examines the language planning efforts of the Kala Language Committee (KLC). The Kala language, which has four …

  • The influence of unpublished studies on results of recent meta-analyses: Publication bias, the file drawer problem, and implications for the replication crisis

    Jennifer A Wagner•ARTICLE•International Journal of Social…•2021•Cited by: 2•References: 3

The replication crisis in the social and psychological sciences is said to be due in part to publication bias and the resulting file drawer problem. Meta-analysis is often advocated as a means of resolving this crisis but is prone to the same publication bias and file drawer effects. A study of 23 meta-analyses examined the consequences of correcting for these effects through the inclusion of unpublished research. Results indicated that the inclu…

  • Individualism–collectivism and team member performance: Another look

    Open Access•Jennifer A Wagner, Stephen E Humphrey et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Organizational Behavior•2011•Cited by: 2•References: 20

This study revisits the commonplace research conclusion that greater team member collectivism, as opposed to individualism, is associated with higher levels of individual‐level performance in teams. Whereas this conclusion is based on the assumption that work in teams consists exclusively of tasks that are shared, typical teamwork also includes tasks that are individualized. Results of a laboratory study of 206 participants performing a mix of in…

  • Effects of Participation on Performance and Satisfaction: Additional Meta-Analytic Evidence

    Open Access•Jennifer A Wagner, Jeffery A LePine et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1999

Stimulated by recent debate, this study investigated whether prior research supports the statement that different forms of participation have different effects on performance and satisfaction in the workplace. Using a collection of 75 correlations drawn from published analyses, a meta-analysis using random effects procedures indicated that relationships between participation and performance reported in the research literature are similar in size …

    Open Access•Jennifer A Wagner, John A Wagner III et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Organizational Behavior•1997•References: 13

In this paper we classify 86 published studies of participation conducted in the U.S. according to whether they are based on cognitive or motivational conceptual frameworks, then conduct a meta-analysis of 124 correlation coefficients obtained from them to determine whether distinguishing between conceptual frameworks portends differences in the findings of U.S. research on the effects of participatory processes on performance and satisfaction. • Studies of Individualism-Collectivism: Effects on Cooperation in Groups.

    Jennifer A Wagner•ARTICLE•Academy of Management Journal•1995

Data from 492 college students indicated that group size and individuals' identifiability, sense of shared responsibility, and levels of individualism or collectivism influenced peer-rated cooperation in classroom groups. Levels of individualism or collectivism moderated the effects of size and identifiability on cooperation but not those of shared responsibility. These findings suggest that models of free riding and social loafing provide insigh…

  • Percept-percept inflation in microorganizational research: An investigation of prevalence and effect.

Suzanne M Crampton, Suzanne Crampton et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Applied Psychology•1994

Analysis of 42,934 correlations published in 581 articles not only revealed general evidence that self-report methods have produced percept-percept inflation in microresearch on organizations but also suggested that this effect is diminished when 1 or both covariates are demographic variables. Further analysis of a subsample of 11,710 correlations indicated that percept-percept inflation has influenced research on particular bivariate relationshi…

  • The organizational tenure — Job involvement relationship: A job‐career experience explanation

    Open Access•Jennifer A Wagner, Gerald R Ferris et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Organizational Behavior•1987•Cited by: 4•References: 2

Research on the job involvement‐organizational tenure relationship has shown no consistent relationship, but recent job and career experience models suggest that a relationship should be found. Using data from three organizations ( n = 216), polynomial regression analysis revealed a curvilinear job involvement‐organizational tenure relationship. This finding is discussed with reference to changes in workplace sensemaking that occur as work experi…

  • Individualism-Collectivism: Concept and Measure

This article draws attention to the distinction between individual ism and collectivism, indicates its importance for organizational scientists, and develops a questionnaire measure of individualism- collectivism. This measure allows the empirical assessment of an important implicit dimension in many contemporary organiza tional models, and can be of use in directing the development of theories and practices relevant to both collectivists and ind…
