  • Collective appropriation of public space

Carlos Alfonso Carrasco González, Carlos Alejandro Custodio González et al.•ARTICLE•Local Environment•2026

The accumulation dynamics of the current development model have generated a process of global urbanisation characterised by the degradation of ecosystem services and the overexploitation of urban assets, posing complex challenges for their long-term management and governance. Although the commons approach has been adopted in academia to analyze these issues, the literature has mainly focused on the Global North. In this context, this article exam…

    Open Access•Carlos R Lopez, Cinthia Ruiz López et al.•ARTICLE•Geographical Review•2024•References: 32

The Latin American City Model has been a reference in regional segregation studies since the early twenty-first century. Despite over 20 years of continuous use, its approach has not accounted for the characteristics and processes relating to segregation in peripheral areas of Mexican cities. Consequently, we lack a comprehensive understanding of this phenomenon. This review is relevant in intermediary cities because segregation is manifest in va…

In this context, urban expansion in the Morelia-Tarímbaro-Charo metropolitan area occurs on ejido land, forcing ejidatarios to insert themselves in the processes of property regime change to put their land on the urban land market.…

  • An Exploration of Cooperation During an Asymmetric Iterated Prisoner's Dilemma Game

    Open Access•Carlos R Lopez, Traci M Cihon et al.•ARTICLE•Behavior and Social Issues•2022•Cited by: 1•References: 43

We investigated how the contingent delivery of a cultural consequence on target culturants in an asymmetric iterated prisoner’s dilemma game (IPDG) affected players’ choices to cooperate. The asymmetric IPDG creates an analogue to environmental conditions in which behaviors and cultural practices create and sustain income disparities among different members of the population more generally. The asymmetric IPDG allows researchers to explore how th…
