  • A Novel BrainHealth Index Prototype Improved by Telehealth-Delivered Training During Covid-19

    Open Access•Sandra B Chapman, Julie M Fratantoni et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2021

Introduction: Brain health is neglected in public health, receiving attention after something goes wrong. Neuroplasticity research illustrates that preventive steps strengthen the brain's component systems; however, this information is not widely known. Actionable steps are needed to scale proven population-level interventions. Objectives: This pilot tested two main objectives: (1) the feasibility/ease of use of an online platform to measure brai…

  • A mechanistic model of connector hubs, modularity and cognition

    Open Access•Maxwell A Bertolero, B T Thomas Yeo et al.•ARTICLE•Nature Human Behaviour•2018•Cited by: 1•References: 58

  • The Cognitive Neuroscience of Working Memory

    Mark D’esposito, Mark D'Esposito et al.•ARTICLE•Annual Review of Psychology•2015

For more than 50 years, psychologists and neuroscientists have recognized the importance of a working memory to coordinate processing when multiple goals are active and to guide behavior with information that is not present in the immediate environment. In recent years, psychological theory and cognitive neuroscience data have converged on the idea that information is encoded into working memory by allocating attention to internal representations…

  • Genotype status of the dopamine-related catechol-O-methyltransferase (Comt) gene corresponds with desirability of “unhealthy” foods

    Open Access•David L Wallace, Deanna L Wallace et al.•ARTICLE•Appetite•2015•Cited by: 1•References: 36

  • Event-related functional MRI

    Mark D''Esposito, Mark D’esposito et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Bulletin•1999•Cited by: 3

Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) has rapidly emerged as a powerful technique in cognitive neuroscience. We describe and critique a new class of imaging experimental designs called event-related fMRI that exploit the temporal resolution of fMRI by modeling fMRI signal changes associated with behavioral trials as opposed to blocks of behavioral trials. Advantages of this method over block designs include the ability to (a) randomize tri…

  • Role of left inferior prefrontal cortex in retrieval of semantic knowledge

    Open Access•Sharon L Thompson-Schill, Mark D’esposito et al.•ARTICLE•Proceedings of the National…•1997

A number of neuroimaging findings have been interpreted as evidence that the left inferior frontal gyrus (IFG) subserves retrieval of semantic knowledge. We provide a fundamentally different interpretation, that it is not retrieval of semantic knowledge per se that is associated with left IFG activity but rather selection of information among competing alternatives from semantic memory. Selection demands were varied across three semantic tasks in…
