Cet article examine l’évolution historique du terme empowerment . D’abord utilisé par les féministes, il a ensuite été de plus en plus utilisé par les institutions internationales et la littérature standard d’économistes du développement. Ce changement d’utilisation a entraîné une transformation progressive du concept qui est utile pour comprendre le travail de développement effectué à destination des femmes

En dépit d'une modification récente de la loi sur l'avortement au Togo, cette dernière demeure restrictive et l'avortement provoqué s'y pratique essentiellement de façon illégale. Changing Transition to Adulthood in Urban Burkina Faso
Based on a unique retrospective survey conducted in 2000 with several cohorts of men and women in Burkina Faso, the study analyzes how the transition to adulthood in the two largest urban centers of the country has evolved over the past twenty years. En s'appuyant sur une enquête biographique détaillée réalisée en 2000 au Burkina Faso (EMIUB), cet article étudie l'effet de la détérioration des conditions d'emploi en milieu urbain au cours des années 1990 sur l'entrée en première union des hommes. Les résultats montrent que la première mise en couple des jeunes citadins est aujourd'hui clairement retardée et que le mode d'entrée en union s'est également transformé.
