Desiring God and Christian Hedonism
In the following rhetorical analysis, the contemporary evangelical philosophy called Christian Hedonism is examined. This philosophy was initiated by John Piper during the eighties through the now classic text Desiring God: Meditations of a Christian Hedonist. Using rhetorical conceptions of immanence and transcendence, the artefact demonstrates a desire to transcend the contemporary bounds of evangelicalism through the immanent substance of joy.…
"Doing the Work" Through Mockumentary
In 2024, the conservative media outlet Daily Wire produced a documentary film entitled Am I Racist? After framing Warner’s (2005) concept of poetic world making among religious publics and counterpublics through the use of sacred tex…

Christians, non-Christians, and non-religious (n = 320) from across the United States took an online, open-ended questionnaire. Rich information emerged from the data concerning the why and how of religious disclosure, what happened after disclosure, and what strategies should be used for the most positive disclosure outcomes. The findings suggested a re…
