  • Is Literature Secular? Transsecular Politics of Literature and Hermeneutics of Hospitality

    Azucena G Blanco•ARTICLE•Political Theology•2024•References: 3

Here I introduce the transsecular concept for the development of a politics of literature in a syncretic, transsecular society. If literature, as per Jacques Rancière (literature as a contradictory discourse in La Parole muette: Essai sur les contradictions de la littérature) and Michel Foucault (madness as principle of social partition in Folie, langage, littérature, 2019) is a laboratory of experiences that makes it possible to think outside of…

  • Foucault on Raymond Roussel: The Extralinguistic Outside of Literature

    Open Access•Azucena G Blanco•ARTICLE•Theory Culture & Society•2023•References: 1

Madness, Language, Literature (2019) brings together a series of unpublished works on literature that belong to Michel Foucault's first stage of production. This article focuses on those works that express a concept of madness as social partition or outside, and also on those that elucidate the concept of the 'extralinguistic' of literature. The combined reading of these texts sheds light on a concept of the extralinguistic outside of literature …

  • Literature and Politics in the Later Foucault

    Open Access•Azucena G Blanco•BOOK•Literature and Politics in the…•2020

This study proposes a revised interpretation of Foucault’s views on literature. It has been argued that the philosopher’s interest in literature was limited to the 1960s and of a mostly depoliticized nature. However, Foucault’s previously unpublished later works suggest a different reality, showing a sustained interest in literature and its politics. In the light of this new material, the book repositions Foucault's ideas within recent debates on…

  • Towards a Politics of Literature in Late Foucault: Parrhesia and Mimesis

    Azucena G Blanco•ARTICLE•Revue internationale de philosophie•2020

This article posits that in Foucault’s later work we find not a forgetting of literature, but a reformulation of the role that literature had come to occupy in his work, and that, in this later work, there is a trace of the texts on literary thought that he wrote from the 1960s to the mid-1970s. Drawing upon Foucault’s later work, I reconsider the key question: What relationship does literature, as literature, have with the political dimension of…

  • The Politics of Literature in Michel Foucault: Veridiction, Fiction and Desire

    Open Access•Azucena G Blanco•ARTICLE•CLCWeb Comparative Literature and…•2018•Cited by: 1•References: 1

This article is based on two hypotheses. The first is that in the later Foucault we would find a reformulation of the status that literature had occupied in his work and the development of a politics of literature (already developed in "Sujetos irregulares: ficción y política en el Sade de Michel Foucault"). The second considers that fiction and desire are inseparably joined, which leads me to analyse the logic of Sade as logic of desire in the l…
