Income, dental insurance coverage, and financial barriers to dental care among Canadian adults
Canadian adults report financial barriers to dental care, especially those of low income. These barriers appear to have negative effects with respect to dental visiting and oral health outcomes. For policy, appropriateness will be key, as clarity needs to be established in terms of what constitutes actual need, and thus which dental services can then be considered a public health response to affordability

The results provide preliminary evidence of the sensitivity to change of the COHQoL questionnaires when used with children receiving orthodontic treatment. The study established the feasibility of using school-level school performance indicators as proxy measures of school-level dental treatment needs. School performance results were good predictors of urgent dental treatment in York Region elementary school children. Risk Indicators for Periodontal Disease in a Remote Canadian Community—a Dental Practice‐based Study
The data indicate that the periodontal health of these patients is poor. Risk indicators or markers of poor periodontal health in the population studied included missing teeth, plaque scores, age, current smoking status, regularity of dental visits, and flossing frequency. This supports previous findings that behavioral factors play an important role in periodontal disease
General Health Status and Changes in Chewing Ability in Older Canadians over Seven Years
The results of this study indicate a marked increase in the prevalence of chewing problems in this older adult population over the seven-year observation period. Poorer general health at baseline increased the probability of the onset of a chewing problem and decreased the probability of recovery
