  • Forests, pastures, and furnaces in the south-eastern Alps

Open Access•Giorgio Piazzalunga, Marta Dal Corso et al.•ARTICLE•Anthropocene•2026

Drawing on the Lake Caldonazzo sedimentary record (Valsugana, Italy), this study reconstructs palaeoecological dynamics from the 6th to 1st millennium BCE, revealing the environmental imprint of pre-protohistoric copper mining in the south-eastern Alps. Integrating bio- and geochemical proxies (micro-botanical data, micro-charcoal, faecal biomarkers, and trace elements) we reconstruct the interplay between environmental dynamics and anthropogenic…

  • Phosphatic crusts as macroscopic and microscopic proxies for identifying archaeological animal penning areas

Open Access•Federico Polisca, Marta Dal Corso et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science•2025•Citada por: 5•Referencias: 9

  • Evaluation of sol-gel hybrid nanocomposites for dry medieval wood

Open Access•Fabrizio Andriulo, Laura Vespignani et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Cultural Heritage•2022

Viking Age archaeological wooden objects from the Oseberg find have undergone extensive chemical deterioration due to the original conservation treatment, based on alum salts (KAl(SO4)2·12H2O), done in the early 1900s. Today, the artefacts are highly acidic (pH ≤ 2), fragile and the wood has almost completely lost its structural integrity. This study is part of a wider research project on conservation methods for these finds, currently underway. …
