    This article considers a series of satirical pamphlets written against women – Les Caquets de l'accouchée – in which the male narrator covertly records women's gossip in the bedroom of a recently delivered woman. Scholars have largely focussed on the fluid gender identity of a male visitor within this sphere of all-female sociability.
