  • Intercomparison of radon and radon progeny concentration measurements performed in the Historic Silver Mine in Tarnowskie Góry, Poland

Open Access•K Rovenska, Kateřina Navrátilová Rovenská et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2025

Introduction: In the frame of the RadoNorm project, within work package 5.4, an intercomparison of radon and radon progeny measurements was organized in the Historic Silver Mine in Tarnowskie Gory (Poland). The aim of this intercomparison campaign was to compare the results of different electronic monitors for measurement of radon and radon progeny concentration under field conditions of an underground workplace over 3 days of measurements. Metho…

  • Reanimation of abandoned places: Three case studies from Czechia

Open Access•Sandra Kreisslová, Hana Vavrouchová et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Heritage…•2025•References: 32

This study examines various approaches to the renewal, revitalisation, and reuse of selected sites in border regions and inland enclaves within Czechia that were predominantly inhabited by the German population before WWII. Following the war, these areas underwent profound socio-cultural transformations due to the forced displacement of the local population, leaving many of them largely abandoned. Official restoration efforts have been relatively…

  • Low Radon Cleanroom for Underground Laboratories

Open Access•I Štekl, Jirí Hůlka et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2021

Aim of a low radon cleanroom technology is to minimize at the same time radon, radon decay products concentration and aerosol concentration and to minimize deposition of radon decay products on the surfaces. The technology placed in a deep underground laboratory such as LSM Modane with suppressed muon flux and shielded against external gamma radiation and neutrons provides “Zero dose” space for basic research in radiobiology (validity of the LNT …
