  • A Technique for Flaking Projectile Points

    During experimentation with the flaking of projectile points, a simple wooden anvil was found to be a remarkable aid. It enabled the worker to simulate the long flaking on ancient blades by the application of great lateral pressure.     In Ruin No. 2 of the Homolobi group near Winslow, Arizona, a square kiva was excavated in 1962. Paintings of two kachinas and a symbol were found on the west wall. White stripes were painted on the bench at one end of the room. The rest of the kiva exhibited characteristics typical of the region.
