Open Access•Raynald Pineault, Roxane Borgès Da Silva et al.•ARTICLE•INQUIRY The Journal of Health…•2017

Physicians' gender can have an impact on many aspects of patient experience of care. Organization processes through which the influence of gender is exerted have not been fully explored. The aim of this article is to compare primary health care (PHC) organizations in which female or male doctors are predominant regarding organization and patient characteristics, and to assess their influence on experience of care, preventive care delivery, use of…

In 2010, we conducted population and organization …

  • The impact of primary healthcare reform on equity of utilization of services in the province of Quebec

Open Access•Marie-Jo Ouimet, Raynald Pineault et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal for Equity…•2015

Differences favoring the rich in affiliation to family doctor and likelihood of visit to PHC facility likely represent inequities in access to PHC which remained stable or deteriorated after the reform. New models of PHC organizations do not appear to have improved equity. We believe that an equity-focused approach is needed in order to address persisting inequities

Based on the example of the evaluation of service organization models, this article shows how a configurational approach overcomes the limits of traditional methods which for the most part have studied the individual components of various models considered independently of one another. These traditional methods have led to results (observed effects) that are difficult to interpret. The configurational approach, in contrast, is based on the hypoth…

A trend toward the reduction in the length of hospital stays has been widely observed. This increasing shift is particularly evident in perinatal care. A stay of less than 48 hours after delivery has been shown to have no negative effects on the health of either the mother or the baby as long as they receive an adequate follow-up. This implies a close integration between hospital and community health services. The present article addresses the fo…

A large part of this failure is linked to the small variation recorded in utilization patterns among physicians. Medical practice appears to be quite…
