    This chapter investigates the informal barriers that emerge at the nonprofit organization level, with informal obstacles surfacing in the interaction between immigrants and nonprofit workers. The stories of survivors Clara, Silvana, Rosario, Monica, Samuel, Yolanda, Patricia, Ramona, and Leticia reveal the preferences that nonprofit advocates at ORA had in regard to their “clientele.” Immigrants who behaved in particular ways tended to be better …
