  • The Ethics of Commons Organizing

Open Access•David Murillo, Pau Guinart et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Business Ethics•2025

In this article, we seek to explore the different normative claims made around commons organizing and how the advent of the digital commons introduces new ethical questions. We do so by unpacking and categorizing the specific ethical dimensions that differentiate the commons from other forms of organizing and by discussing them in the light of debates around the governance of participative organizations, the cornerstone of commons organizing (Ost…

  • Ecosystems of Innovation

    Martha Leticia Silva-Flores, David Murillo•ARTICLE•Innovation The European Journal…•2022•Cited by: 1•References: 9

This article seeks to advance knowledge of social innovation through understanding how public policy frameworks can both support and constrain its efficacy in an ever-changing world. In doing so, this article contributes to the framework for studying interventions related to innovation models that emerge from a multidisciplinary approach to interpreting ecosystems. The question this paper attempts to answer: how can we best mitigate and overcome …

  • Bounded Solidarity as an Asset for Public Health Care Intervention

    Open Access•Mireia Yter, David Murillo et al.•ARTICLE•Qualitative Health Research•2022•Cited by: 3•References: 46

The relationship between social capital and public health has been extensively analyzed. However, not much has been written about the formation of social capital among citizens and public health workers in times of a pandemic. Our aim is to analyze social capital development through the prism of bounded solidarity and seek its manifestations toward public health workers. A qualitative self-administered survey was used to analyze what actions, pra…

  • Go get ’em! Elites, depoliticization and resistance in the Catalan independence bid

    David Murillo•ARTICLE•Globalizations•2020•Cited by: 3•References: 13

Exploring the role of elites in recent liberal democratic crises is emerging as one of the most important themes of our times. In this regard, the Catalan bid or independence in autumn 2017 remains a puzzling example of a foreseeable crisis that produced a dramatic institutional watershed. This article turns to frame the structural elements and specific actions that, contrary to the pluralist view, prevented Spanish elites from supplying a politi…

  • The Role of Vertical Transmission in the Control of Dengue Fever

Open Access•David Murillo, Anarina L Murillo et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2019

In this work, a two-strain dengue model with vertical transmission in the mosquito population is considered. Although vertical transmission is often ignored in models of dengue fever, we show that effective control of an outbreak of dengue can depend on whether or not the vertical transmission is a significant mode of disease transmission. We model the effect of a control strategy aimed at reducing human-mosquito transmissions in an optimal contr…

  • Understanding the effects of social capital on social innovation ecosystems in Latin America through the lens of Social Network Approach

Vanessa Alcaide Lozano, Liliana Arroyo Moliner et al.•ARTICLE•International Review of Sociology•2019•Cited by: 2•References: 29

This paper explores the role of social capital in creating social innovation ecosystems and fostering social impact. We examine two cases, chosen for their pioneering experiences in the field of tackling poverty in Latin America: Socialab and Compartamos con Colombia. Focusing on their structure of interactions (through network-level and node-level indicators), we examine the structural characteristics of the two ecosystems studied. We then corre…

  • Governmentality and the politics of CSR

    Open Access•Steen Vallentin, David Murillo•ARTICLE•Organization•2012

In this article we argue that an analytics of governmentality has an important contribution to make to the study of governmental approaches to corporate social responsibility (CSR). Looking at developments within the EU, we see government emerging as an enabling and empowering facilitator that a) promotes a strategic understanding of CSR as a lever for economic competitiveness and growth and b) disregards regulatory measures in favour of liberal …
