  • In the Mood for Likes

    Open Access•Nils Gustafsson, Nils Holmberg et al.•ARTICLE•Social Media + Society•2025•References: 43

Emotional communication, especially through social media platforms, has become a contemporary populist threat. While this phenomenon has been studied in for example news media and social movements, we know less about its influence on civil society organizations, despite their pluralism being a centerpiece in a vibrant democracy. More specifically, we do not know if social media make civil society organizations more isomorphic and thus decreasing …

  • Affektiv polarisering i Norden – en oversikt

    Open Access•Erik Knudsen, Erik S Knudsen et al.•ARTICLE•Tidsskrift for samfunnsforskning•2023•References: 19

Dette fenomenet er kjent som affektiv polarisering. Noen studier har …

However, no study has examined whether the valence of social media comment fields can trigger similar effects for news engagement on Facebook. In this mixed-methods study, we combine eye tracking with surveys, and conduct an experiment in which participants (n = 96) were exposed to 20 Facebook news posts…

This study investigated (1) potential exposure, (2) actual exposure, and (3) perceived exposure to online advertising in Swedish 15-year-olds. Eye movements of these teenagers were measured while they surfed on the internet for 15 minutes. The results show that the teenagers were potentially exposed to 132 advertisements during this time. The actual exposure was 10 per cent of all potential advertisements. A mixed effect model analysis indicates …
