Ethical considerations of 'going public: Public and Media Co-Dissemination of Research Findings With Refugees
Collaborative dissemination of research findings in the public and media spheres has the potential to reach large audiences, enhance forced migrants’ political participation and impact policies. ‘Going public’ further requires both researchers and forced migrants to engage visibly in a sphere that is often unexpected and less familiar to them. This paper discusses the methodological and ethical challenges and possibilities surrounding joint disse…

A New Criminological Frame of Reference
A study of mythogenes — the motivational structures of experience and longing — and myths, expressions of wishes and and visions at the larger tribal or national scale, lent a new insight to the formation of “micro‐criminology'’ (individuals and groups such as gangs) and the development of “macro‐criminology'’ (at the national level, such as genocide). This paper aims to create a new criminological frame of reference by building upon the theories…
Micro-Macro Criminology
In this paper, author incorporates his new conceptual scheme developed in an earlier book titled God as Shadow of Man as a means of bridging between micro- and macro-criminology. The key concept is mythogene, which is an ahistorical structure of longing and experience. He utilizes this concept to explain recruiting process of individual into crime. Then mythology, which is sum total of all mythogenes in a given group, is utilized to understand fo…
The Medium is the Barrier
In this paper, we present a critical viewpoint of human dialogue in the modern age. In our view, the Internet, as the paramount cultural guidepost at the end of the millennium, is a stark reflection of the barrier in human communication in our time. By means of an analysis of conversation transcripts at virtual conversation sites, we shall endeavor to show that virtual communication, to use a phrase from Zen wisdom literature, is ‘the clap of one…
Stigma, creativity, crime, and madness
The paper deals with the notions of stigma as related to crime and madness. It expounds a new personality theory which Is related to the genesis of both crime and madness and presents madness as an incentive to creativity. The notion of existentialistic authenticity is integrated in the processes of creativity. The case of Van Gogh and Artaud illustrates the bifurcation of authentic and inauthentic existence, in the sense that even madness has be…
Anxious' and 'reckless' drivers
This paper presents personality profiles of two types of recidivist traffic offenders. One is the “anxious” traffic offender who imputes legitimacy to traffic norms, yet due to innate structural personality defects, he tends to enter into a state of anxiety, when confronted with risky traffic situations or a traffic jam. The other type is the “reckless” driver, who does not impute legitimacy to traffic norms nor to other legal norms. From this pe…

The interdisciplinary study of sexual violence
This paper tries to apply the concepts of interdisciplinarity to the study of rape and examines the ways in which the etiological hierarchy, which the author has developed in relation to the study of violence, relates to the etiology of rape. The paper also examines the feasibility of applying some of the aspects of the author's personality theory to the study of rape. A theoretical scheme is then presented and the relevant research findings are …

Personality core dynamics and predisposition towards homosexuality
The neutralization of He ions scattered from a Ca surface, as well as Al and Cu surfaces as references, is discussed on the basis of the incident energy dependence of low energy ion scattering (LEIS) spectra. The neutralization probability obtained for Ca is much higher than that expected on the basis of the Auger mechanism, indicating that the collision-induced (CI) process is dominant for the neutralization. The markedly large background compon…

Secularization, Deviance and Delinquency among Israeli Arab Villagers
Many Israeli Arabs are facing severe culture-conflicts as a consequence of two social processes. First, there is the increasing frequency of contact with Jews, and second, there is the process of rapid modernization which involves secularization, disorganization of traditional social structures and changing norms. In this study the criminality of rural Arabs in Israel is analyzed in terms of culture-conflict. Interviews with prisoners and non-pri…
Interaction in Violence
The aim of the study is the examination of the actual process of eruption of the violent act. The study, therefore, concentrates on a stimulus-response interaction and examines the nature of the provocation, the nature of the reaction, and the relationship between the two factors. These three components constitute one cycle, and each cycle acts as a stimulus to the subsequent one. If the first cycle of interaction is not clear to the parties, the…

Value Orientation and Awareness of Differential Opportunity of Delinquent and Non‐delinquent Boys in Israel (Pre‐test)
The Application of the "Culture-Conflict" Hypothesis to the Criminality of Immigrants in Israel
It has been recognized that a basic distinction should be made between the etiology of crime as a social phenomenon inherent in a given society and the process by which a certain individual becomes a criminal or commits a criminal act. With the development of the formal school of sociology, which was mostly concerned with forms of human interaction, more at? tention was given to the phenomenon of crime on the social level. The con? cept of confli…
