Developmental Stage at Immigration and Mental Health
Personal stigma and artificial intelligence use for mental health among college students with elevated anxiety and/or depression symptoms
Age at Immigration Linked to Cigarette and Marijuana Use in Asian and Latinx U.S. College Students
Parenting in place
Moving beyond the examination of ethnic-racial socialization within singular microsystems (e.g., residential neighborhoods), this study indicates that day-to-day ethnic-racial exposures encountered by Latina mothers may influence how mothers socialize their adolescent children around issues of ethnicity and race. Effects of stand structure on ecological benefits and tree growth of Haloxylon ammodendron plantations
Haloxylon ammodendron is a typical tree species in arid region for windbreak and sand fixation. Understanding how stand structure (i.e., afforestation density, forest type, and stand age) of H. ammodendron impacts ecological benefits and tree growth status has great implications for desertification control in arid area. We obtained a dataset of 446 observations from 79 studies related to H. ammodendron plantations for meta‐analysis. Stand age was…
Familism Values, Family Assistance, and Prosocial Behaviors Among U.S. Latinx Adolescents
Among U.S. Mexican adolescents living in established immigrant communities, high familism values are positively associated with compliant, emotional, and dire prosocial behaviors via sociocognitive and cultural psychological mechanisms. Less is known about the behavioral mechanisms that may explain these associations, or about prosocial behaviors among U.S. Latinxs residing in emerging immigrant destinations. We examined the cross-sectional, inte…
Parental Warmth and Developmental Change in Familism Values
This study examined the developmental changes of familism values across adolescence among Latinx adolescents from an emerging immigrant community, and how changes in parental warmth were associated with changes in familism values. The sample included 547 Latinx adolescents. Multilevel model results indicated that familism values showed a linear decline from 6th to 10th grade. Between-person analyses showed that parental warmth was related to the …
The impact of discrimination on parent–adolescent relationships in U.S. Mexican families
The Family Stress Model (FSM) posits that environmental stressors disrupt key parenting and family processes via increases in parents’ psychological distress. Few studies, however, have examined whether Latinx parents’ perceptions of discrimination, a salient environmental stressor for Latinx populations, disrupt parent–child relationships. It is particularly important to examine acceptance and conflict in the parent–child relationship during chi…
A study of extraction process and in vitro antioxidant activity of total phenols from Rhizoma imperatae
The study investigated the extraction method of Rhizoma Imperatae and its antioxidant activity, and provided a basis for its rational development. The extraction method of Rhizoma Imperatae was determined using orthogonal design test and by total phenol content, its hydroxyl radical scavenging ability was measured by Fenton reaction, and potassium ferricyanide reduction method was used to determine its reducing power. The results showed that the …
