    Open Access•Roman Buchtele, Miloslav Lapka•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Purpose In recent decades, the concepts of sustainable development (SD) and sustainability have become a part of the everyday information flow. Is there real impact on students who have potential to become stakeholders and decision-makers? To be able to answer this question, the authors focussed on the following problems: whether the discourse of SD has any impact on students of economics concerning their knowledge of the environmental pillar of …

  • From coping strategy to hopeful everyday practice

    Open Access•Petr Daněk, Lucie Sovová et al.•ARTICLE•Sociologia Ruralis•2022•References: 66

While alternative food networks (AFNs) have become the leading conceptualisation of sustainable food systems, vibrant scholarship on food self-provisioning (FSP) in Central and Eastern Europe has remained confined to the geopolitical region it investigates. This article brings these two bodies of thought closer together in two steps. First, we trace four framings of FSP deployed over the last three decades-coping strategy, cultural practice, hobb…

Miloslav Lapka, Eva Cudlínová•ARTICLE•International Journal of Heritage…•1998•Cited by: 3•References: 2

The article focuses on a general analysis of two basic models for solving the problems of marginal areas: 1) linear economic models 2) non‐linear ecological models. Following an examination of both types of model, the paper identifies the main successes and failures accompanying their application. We are especially concerned with the methodology and nature of these models, and in doing so, with the phenomenon of cultural capital. Empirical data f…

  • Human sources of landscape stewardship

    Miloslav Lapka, Eva Cudlínová•ARTICLE•Landscape Research•1996

Historically, an important role informing the Czech cultural landscape was played by the strong middle class of farmers. The period of collectivization which occurred progressively between 1950 and 1989 meant liquidation of the rural community. Whereas in 1950 there were 1,404,225 private farmers, this number had decreased to only 2,000 in 1988. This paper focuses on the problems of stewardship and responsibility towards landscape associated with…
