Sex has at least two different but related meanings: a biological property that bodies can seemingly ‘have’, and a set of bodily practices that one or more people can ‘have’. This article charts the historical period from the 1950s to the 1990s, focusing on the role of Psychology in the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) people in Britain. Psychology has been, and is, central to the social, legal, and medical understandings of biological sex and how best to understand diversity in gender and sexuality. What are 'gay genes' and are they real? This article looks at key research into these hypothesized gay genes, made possible, in part, by the Human Genome Project. I argue that the complexity of both genetics and human sexuality demands a truly critical approach: one that takes into account feminist epistemologies of science and queer approaches to the body, while putting into conversation resources from agential realism and critical realism. A Variance-Stabilizing Coding Scheme for Spatial Link Matrices
In spatial statistics and spatial econometrics two coding schemes are used predominately. Except for some initial work, the properties of both coding schemes have not been investigated systematically. In this paper we do so for significant spatial processes specified as either a simulta-neous autoregressive or a moving average process. Results show that the C-coding scheme emphasizes spatial objects with relatively large numbers of connections, s…

In this paper a simple introduction and guide to a widely applicable method for estimating missing data in fields of enquiry such as census maps or LANDSAT images are presented. The method given is a maximum likelihood procedure.
