  • The impact of uncertainty in repair service attributes on consumer preferences: Insights from a dual‐response choice experiment

Open Access•Paul Bengart, Bodo Vogt•ARTICLE•Journal of Industrial Ecology•2025

Extending the lifespan of electronic devices through repair can significantly reduce negative environmental impacts. However, despite consumers reporting a strong preference for repair, actual repair rates remain relatively low. Qualitative research has indicated that uncertainty surrounding various aspects of repair service offers, such as repair costs and outcomes, discourages consumers from choosing repair. However, no studies have yet quantif…

  • The effect of acute tryptophan depletion on beliefs in a Stag Hunt game

  • Experiments on norm focusing and losses in dictator games

Open Access•Ivo Windrich, Sabrina Kierspel et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Sociology•2022•References: 6

We conducted experiments on norm focusing. The tests were carried out with two versions of dictator games: in one version of the game, the dictator had to allocate a gain of €10, while in the other version, a loss of €-10 needs to be allocated. In a first treatment, we focused subjects on the average giving in similar previous dictator games. The second treatment focused subjects on the behaviour of what a self-interested actor should do. In tota…

  • Ultimatum bargaining over losses and gains - An experimental comparison

Open Access•Thomas Neumann, Daniel Yépez Piedra et al.•ARTICLE•Social Science Research•2017•Cited by: 3•References: 21

Subjects in the loss domain tend to split payoffs equally when bargaining. The ultimatum game offers an ideal mechanism through which social scientists can investigate whether equal splits are the consequence of the proposers' generosity or due to their anticipation that the responders will reject lower offers. This paper experimentally compares ultimatum bargaining that takes place in a loss domain with that under a gains domain. The results rev…

  • Risk attitude, beliefs, and information in a Corruption Game – An experimental analysis

  • Money and Reciprocity

    Open Access•Bodo Vogt, Thorsten Hens•PREPRINT•SSRN Electronic Journal•2003

Based on an experimental analysis of a simple monetary economy we argue that a monetary system is more stable than one would expect from individual rationality. We show that positive reciprocity stabilizes the monetary system, provided every participant considers the feedbacks of his choice to the stationary equilibrium. If however the participants do not play stationary strategies and some participants notoriously refuse to accept money then due…
