  • A co-designed feasibility study to understand the impact of an emergency homelessness housing intervention in Ireland

Open Access•KATE FRAZER, Andrew Darley et al.•ARTICLE•Health Promotion International•2025

Homelessness is a global challenge that impacts many population groups, including adults, families, and children. People become homeless for various reasons, and international data underestimates the prevalence of homelessness. The impact of homelessness on health and wellbeing is well described, including reduced life expectancy and significant morbidity. A lack of housing stock, increased waiting lists, and provision of temporary and emergency …

Tovah Tripp, Ofelia Martinez et al.•ARTICLE•Medical Teacher•2024

The Master Adaptive Learner is a model used to develop students to become self-regulated and adaptable lifelong learners to practice medicine in a complex and ever-changing environment. The Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine (HMSOM) proposes a new course, Patient Presentation Problem-Based Learning Curriculum (PPPC), a dynamic and integrated course that goes beyond the scope of traditional Problem-Based-Learning (PBL). • National Identity after a Conflict

    Natasha Bingham, Christopher Duffy•ARTICLE•Comparative Sociology•2017•Cited by: 1•References: 18

This work uses multinomial logistic regression to explore how Northern Irish youth view their national identity and the factors that shape their self-identification post-1998 Good Friday Agreement. We use the 2005-2015 Northern Ireland Young Life and Times Surveys of 16-year-olds to investigate these questions. The results indicate that intergroup contact is less influential than environmental factors on national identity. Residential and school …

  • Hydrological Modeling and Prehistoric Settlement on Santa Rosa Island, California, USA

    Open Access•C S Jazwa, Christopher Duffy et al.•ARTICLE•Geoarchaeology•2016•Cited by: 6•References: 13

Fresh water availability was an important variable that influenced prehistoric human settlement on California's northern Channel Islands. Previous attempts to understand settlement on the islands use watershed size as a proxy for water at canyon mouths. In semi‐arid regions, this approach has limitations because streams may lose much or all of their flow to groundwater. We developed a distributed hydrological model for Santa Rosa Island that inco…

  • The urban hydrology and hydraulic engineering at the classic maya site of Palenque

  • The Hydroarchaeological Method

    Open Access•Kirk D French, Christopher Duffy et al.•ARTICLE•Latin American Antiquity•2012•Cited by: 11•References: 63

This research consists mainly of introducing the hydroarchaeological method, especially as related to issues of drought. The article outlines how this multidisciplinary method can provide insights into the success and failures of an archaeological site, in this case the Maya site of Palenque. We also detail convincing evidence that shows that the Maya of Palenque did not leave their city because of deficiencies of water, as some paleoclimatologis…

Thomas M Barker, Christopher Duffy•ARTICLE•The Journal of Military History•2001

  • Siege Warfare

Geoffrey Parker, Christopher Duffy•ARTICLE•The Journal of Military History•1998

This classic text is the first integrated survey of the phenomenon of siege warfare during its most creative period. Duffy demonstrates the implications of the fortress for questions of military organization, strategy, geography, law, architectural values, town life and symbolism and imagination. The book is well illustrated, and will be a valuable companion for enthusiasts of military and architectural history, as well as the general medievalist

  • Achtung Panzer! The Development of Armoured Forces, Their Tactics and Operational Potential

Timothy K Nenninger, Heinz Guderian et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Military History•1993

This is an English translation of the strategic study of tank warfare by one of its leading exponents. Written just two years before he put his theories to work in Hitler's Blitzkrieg of World War II. The theories of Heinz Guderain, substantially evolved from the British and French experiences from World War I, were considered revolutionary, even foolhardy. When he published his views in 1937 the book became a bestseller and yet few of the reader…

  • Red Storm on the Reich

David M Glantz, Christopher Duffy•ARTICLE•The Journal of Military History•1992

The Eastern Front witnessed the critical battles between the German and Russian armies which won and lost the Second World War. In Red Storm on the Reich, Christopher Duffy uncovers a military campaign of unprecedented scale and ferocity during which thirty million lives were lost - a deadly harvest in which the slaughter and suffering of German civilians reached unfathomable dimensions. By quoting extensively from the memoirs of Soviet and Germa…
