Parental Compliance towards Oral Health Education among Preschoolers with Special Healthcare Needs
Non-compliance existed among parents whose children had received OHE intervention. Parental compliance towards OHE intervention might be associated with parents' OHL skills, usefulness of OHE materials, and children's developmental conditions. OHE programs should be individually tailored to support children whose parents are at a higher risk of noncompliant behaviors
Modelling health belief predictors of oral health and dental anxiety among adolescents based on the Health Belief Model
Clarifying the propositional structures of the HBM may help the future design of theory-based interventions in reducing dental anxiety and preventing dental caries
Development and validation of the Oral health behavior questionnaire for adolescents based on the health belief model (OHBQAHBM)
The present findings indicate satisfactory validity, reliability and applicability of the proposed Oral Health Behavior Questionnaire for Adolescents based on the Health Belief Model (OHBQAHBM) for measuring oral health beliefs of adolescents. This questionnaire can be used as an instrument to measure oral health beliefs and predict oral health behavior and oral hygiene status of adolescents
The association of socio-economic status, dental anxiety, and behavioral and clinical variables with adolescents’ oral health-related quality of life
The Impact of Adaptive Functioning and Oral Hygiene Practices on Observed Tooth-Brushing Performance Among Preschool Children with Special Health Care Needs
Evaluation of psychometric properties and differential item functioning of 8-item Child Perceptions Questionnaires using item response theory
Items related to oral symptoms were not informative to OHRQoL and deletion of these items is suggested. The impact of DIF across gender on the overall score was minimal. CPQ11-14 RSF:8 performed slightly better than ISF:8 in measurement precision. The 6-item short forms suggested by IRT validation should be further investigated to ensure their robustness, responsiveness and discriminative performance
The relationship between consumption of beverages and tooth wear among adults in the U nited S tates
This study demonstrates that a substantial proportion of adults had evidence of TW, which was affected by demographic factors in a complex way. Fruit drinks consumption in adults was associated with the severity of TW, but not with the prevalence of TW after adjusting for demographics. These findings are important for the development of appropriate treatment guidelines, public policy, and programs aimed at reducing TW in adults
Interpreter-mediated dentistry
Development of functional oral health literacy assessment instruments
Comprehension tasks assessing patient health literacy predominantly examine functional health literacy at the lower levels of comprehension. Item development is influenced by the fields of situated and authentic literacy. Inclusion of content regarding multiliteracies is suggested for further research. Development of functional health literacy assessment instruments requires careful consideration of the clinical context in determining construct v…
Health- and oral health-related quality of life among preschool children with cerebral palsy
Differences in health- and oral health-related quality of life exist among preschool children with CP. Correlation between health- and oral health-related quality of life could at best be described as weak
Comprehensive Cephalometric Analyses of 10 to 14-Year Old Southern Chinese
Modified Bjork Analysis of Lateral Head Radiographs of Southern Chinese
Aim: To establish cephalometric norms for the modified Björk’s cephalometric analysis in southern Chinese children, and compare them to those of a matched Caucasian sample. \n \nMaterials and Methods: The material comprised lateral cephalometric radiographs of a random sample of 200 males and 205 females 12-year-old southern Chinese, and an additional sample of 43 males and 43 females 12-year-old British Caucasian children in Hong Kong. The radio…
A national study of the importance of oral health to life quality to inform scales of oral health related quality of life
Measuring the Impact of Oral Health on Quality of Life in Britain Using OHQoL‐UK©
Most Britons claim their oral health affects their life quality and OHQoL was associated with sociodemographic and oral health factors
