Implicit spirituality and social connection as predictors of psychological well-being in a French population
This research focused on a possible mediation of the relationship between implicit spirituality and well-being, by feelings of social connection. We measured the three variables in a sample of 332 participants. Our results showed a slight relationship between non-religious spirituality and well-being, but this relationship was entirely mediated by social ties, which proved to be a better predictor of psychological well-being (29% of explained var…

Fundamentalism as dogmatic belief, moral rigorism, and strong groupness across cultures
Is fundamentalism universal across religious cultures? We investigated this issue by focusing on three questions: (1) the dimensionality of fundamentalism, as measured by the Religious Fundamentalism Scale (Altemeyer & Hunsberger, 2004); (2) the very nature of fundamentalism as denoting dogmatic belief, moral rigorism, or strong groupness; and (3) interreligious prejudice as predicted uniquely, additively, or interactively by religiousness and so…

Spiritual transformations after the diagnosis of melanoma affect life satisfaction through indirect pathways
Cancer creates fear and existential questionings which can result in a change of spirituality. Spirituality as a coping process can engender positive transformations (spiritual growth) as well as negative ones (spiritual decline). Although previous studies indicated that spiritual transformations are directly linked to the emotional component of subjective well-being, we do not know if they are related to its cognitive aspect. We first examined w…

The Role of Mediators in the Indirect Effects of Religiosity on Therapeutic Compliance in African Migrant HIV-Positive Patients
Religiosity and Depressive Episodes among African Migrant HIV-positive
Religion and spirituality seem to be very important for HIV-positive patients believers. The majority of these studies show most positive associations of religiosity/spirituality to physical health through reducing emotional distress, reduced rates of depression, greater optimism, better psychological …
Factorial structure of the New Ecological Paradigm scale in two French samples
The principal objective of this research is to test the factorial structure of the New Ecological Paradigm scale on a population of men and women residing in France. The tested model is a second-order factorial model. This factorial structure is evaluated on two separate samples to test the stability of the solution (a first sample of 253 participants, diversified in terms of age and socioprofessional category, and a second sample of 266 students…
Disclosure and religion among people living with HIV/Aids in France

Respondents who reported being in a couple with a non-HIV-positive partner were asked whether they had disclosed their HIV positive status…
