  • Deglaciation of Fennoscandia

Open Access•Arjen P Stroeven, Clas Hättestrand et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Science Reviews•2016

To provide a new reconstruction of the deglaciation of the Fennoscandian Ice Sheet, in the form of calendar-year time-slices, which are particularly useful for ice sheet modelling, we have compiled and synthesized published geomorphological data for eskers, ice-marginal formations, lineations, marginal meltwater channels, striae, ice-dammed lakes, and geochronological data from radiocarbon, varve, optically-stimulated luminescence, and cosmogenic…

Open Access•Claire Fournier, Per Lindskog et al.•ARTICLE•Canadian Journal of African…•1991•Citada por: 3

Every year four and a half million children under five die in Asia, Latin America, and Africa from diarrhoea, caused by contaminated water. This is one of many reasons why improved drinking water is high on the agenda in many developments projects and plans. But what happens when better water is supplied? What is the impact upon child health? What experiences should be taken into account in the planning and implementation of schemed for better wa…

  • Macro‐scale water scarcity requires micro‐scale approaches

Open Access•Malin Falkenmark, Jan Lundqvist et al.•ARTICLE•Natural Resources Forum•1989

This paper shows that water scarcity is a complex problem when it affects countries with a semi‐arid climate, ie countries for which there are fluctuations between a dry season and a season when rain occurs. The paper discusses the general vulnerability of the semi‐arid zone in terms of four different types of water scarcity, the effects of which are being superimposed on each other: two are natural (type A, arid climate, type B, intermittent dro…
