Citational Politics in Transactions
Short Abstract From now on, authors writing in Transactions will no longer be expected to count their reference lists within the 10,000‐word limit. In this editorial, we take the opportunity to lay out the reasons behind this decision, encouraging prospective authors to critically reflect on how they cite, and highlighting the role of journals, reviewers, and editors in moving towards more inclusive citational practices
Integrating nature and people in European forest management: What is the state of nature conservation and role of participation
Forest biodiversity can be retained by setting aside protected forest areas for nature conservation or by integrating conservation measures in managed forests. Societal demands towards forest ecosystem services have changed in favour of conservation ideas, and there is a move towards more participatory forest policymaking. This paper investigated the relation between participatory decision-making and forest management developments within twelve E…
Weaving care praxis to mediate glitches in Indigenous digital land management in northern Australia
Digital technologies increasingly entangle with everyday Indigenous land management practices, from place-based biocultural monitoring to political decision-making. As Indigenous knowledge and governance practice intersect with big data and technological devices, questions remain around how Indigenous agency can lead situated digital engagement while navigating the systemic injustices exposed through technological glitches. Drawing on glitch femi…
Transforming practice chains through ideological objects: How plant-based meats impact consumers’ everyday food practices
This research investigates the impact of the introduction of plant-based meats (PBMs) on consumers' food practices. Based on the results of 21 in-depth interviews with consumers who use PBMs, this research uses practice theory to explore how the adoption of PBMs affects linked food practices and the meanings associated with these practices. We find that consumers adopt PBMs due to either a desire for meaning coherence or for practicality. Subsequ…
Towards healthier and more sustainable diets in the Australian context: Comparison of current diets with the Australian Dietary Guidelines and the EAT-Lancet Planetary Health Diet
Significant changes are required for Australians' dietary intake to align more closely with national and global dietary recommendations for health and environmental sustainability

Forests in common: Learning from diversity of community forest arrangements in Europe
Europe has a wealth of community forest arrangements. This paper aims to transcend the diversity of locally specific terms and forms, to highlight the value of considering them inclusively. Building on methods to make sense of diversity, we use reflexive grounded inquiry in fifteen cases in Italy, Scotland, Slovenia and Sweden. Within four dimensions (forest, community, relationships between them, and relationships with wider society), we identif…
Two decades of forest-related legislation changes in European countries analysed from a property rights perspective
In the last two decades, attention on forests and ownership rights has increased in different domains of international policy, particularly in relation to achieving the global sustainable development goals. This paper looks at the changes in forest-specific legislation applicable to regular productive forests, across 28 European countries. We compare the legal framework applicable in the mid-1990s with that applicable in 2015, using the Property …

No Personal Motive?’ Volunteers, Biodiversity, and the False Dichotomies of Participation
Analyses of participation usually assume a dichotomy between ‘instrumental’ and ‘transformative’ approaches. However, this study of voluntary biological monitoring experiences and outcomes finds that they cannot be fitted into such a dichotomy. They can enhance the information base for environmental management; change participants through education about scientific practice and ecological change; lead to changes in life direction or group organis…
International Institute of Public Law
of Public Law held its first session on October 20 in the Salle des Fetes of the Faculty of Law of the University of Paris. There was at the beginning an administrative session presided over by M. Gaston J&ze. The mandate of the existing Council of Direction was extended and certain matters of internal organization were considered. The project dealing with the internal regulation of the Institute, presented by the secretary-general, M. Mirkine-Gu…
