  • Agentivité, devenir-chasseur et affects

    Open Access•Patrick Deshayes•ARTICLE•Ateliers d anthropologie•2013

    Open Access•Patrick Deshayes•ARTICLE•Socio-anthropologie•2006

    Patrick Deshayes•ARTICLE•Psychotropes•2002

The Speech Chase : Kashinawa Shamanism and Chiefdoms The author examines the social communication of the Kashinawa in three areas : meat exchange, marriage and speech. He defines a communications structure which involves exchange, balance and reciprocity and confronts it with an informational structure which is non reciprocal and asymetrical. The chief and the shaman who are to be found not at the center but at the outskirts of the Kashinawa syst…

  • Les petits ordinateurs jouent au mankala

    P. Deshayes & V. Gautheron-Small Computers Play Mankala. In this study of awele no optimal strategy could be defined-which keeps the game interesting. However a number of 'advantageous attitudes' were defined as statistically preferable to a random playing of the game

    P. Deshayes, V. Gautheron & A. Popova - The Diversity of Wari Games; A Classification of the Various Rules according to Technical Criteria. It is impossible to consider the many different rules of various wari-type games as variants on a simple common basic game. The criteria used in order to build up a provisional classification are the technical rules (pawn-taking, permitted tricks and strikes etc.), first because they are all important in the …

  • Mathématiques et mankala

    Open Access•Patrick Deshayes•ARTICLE•Cahiers d études africaines•1976

    P. Deshayes-Mathematics and Mankala. How the introduction of a mathematical component has revealed some of the non-essential aspects of the game concept

  • Exploitation didactique du wari

    Open Access•André Deledicq, Patrick Deshayes•ARTICLE•Cahiers d études africaines•1976

    A. Deledicq & P. Deshayes-Didactical Exploitation of the 'Wari' Game. The role of games in education has long been recognized. Wari could well be used in teaching mathematics to illustrate such notions as space, sets, pairs, recurrence, probability, combinations, and so forth. This would offer an opportunity of introducing traditional thought patterns in modem African schools
