    In the current media marketplace there are advocates of extremism and moderation whose voices compete for adherents. It is the thesis of this essay that Barry Goldwater provided a valid insight when he declared in his famous 1964 Republican convention acceptance speech that moderation is not always a virtue and extremism not always a vice.
