  • Chemical analysis of bitumen paint on classic period Central Veracruz ceramics, Mexico

Through the use of the 13C/12C and 18O/16O isotopic relationships found at enamel and osteodentine, here it is inferred the diet and preferred habitat in which five extinct herbivore species from the Late Pleistocene of Valsequillo, Puebla, México. The horses, mammoths, and sloths showed a diet mainly based in C4, meanwhile the capybaraand gomphotheres were mixed C3/C4 feeders. The vegetation in which those animals lived was open with some trees,…

  • Geographic variation of diet and habitat of the Mexican populations of Columbian Mammoth (Mammuthus columbi)

    Open Access•Víctor Adrián Pérez-Crespo, Joaquin Arroyo-Cabrales et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2012•Cited by: 7

  • Modern Radiocarbon Levels for Northwestern Mexico Derived from Tree Rings: A Comparison with Northern Hemisphere Zones 2 and 3 Curves

    Open Access•Laura E Beramendi-Orosco, Galia González-Hernández et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2010•Cited by: 4•References: 18

The radiocarbon variation for northwestern Mexico during the period 1950–2004 was studied by accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) and liquid scintillation counting (LSC) analyses of tree rings. Two tree-ring sequences of Pseudotsuga menziesii, sampled in a site isolated from urban centers and active volcanoes (26.18°N, 106.3°W, 3000 m asl), were dendrochronologically dated and separated in annual rings prior to 14 C analysis. Results obtained show…
