The faunal remains are described from Nkile and Bolondo, two archaeological sites in the equatorial rainforest of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Both river-side settlements, located in the Ruki-Tshuapa basin and dating to between the 14th century to the second half of the 20th century, show a heavy reliance on aquatic food resources. • Pastoralism in Africa

Susanne Berzborn, Christo Botha et al.•EDITOR•BOOK•Pastoralism in Africa•2022•Cited by: 1

  • Iron Age plant subsistence in the Inner Congo Basin (DR Congo)

    Open Access•Katharina Neumann, Barbara Eichhorn et al.•ARTICLE•Vegetation History and…•2022•Cited by: 13•References: 13

Around 400 bc , pottery- and iron-producing populations immigrated into the Inner Congo Basin (ICB) and subsequently spread upstream some major tributaries of the Congo River. We present an archaeobotanical study of three sites in the ICB covering parts of the Early Iron Age (ca. 400 bc - ad 650) and of the Late Iron Age (LIA) as well as subrecent times (ca. ad 1300–2000). We studie…

  • The Abuse of User a Note on the Egyptian Statuette from Knossos

Open Access•Hans-Peter Wotzka•ARTICLE•The Annual of the British School…•1990

It is argued that the Egyptian statuette-fragment of User, discovered by Evans early in the 1900 excavations at the Palace of Knossos, was not found in association with datable pottery, and that it should no longer be regarded as one of the key finds for Aegean chronology
