Parsing the late-closure ambiguity
Learning from errors
Word predictability blurs the lines between production and comprehension
The P-chain
This article introduces the P-chain, an emerging framework for theory in psycholinguistics that unifies research on comprehension, production and acquisition. The framework proposes that language processing involves incremental prediction, which is carried out by the production system. Prediction necessarily leads to prediction error, which drives learning, including both adaptive adjustment to the mature language processing system as well as lan…
Persistent structural priming from language comprehension to language production☆☆☆
Becoming syntactic.
Psycholinguistic research has shown that the influence of abstract syntactic knowledge on performance is shaped by particular sentences that have been experienced. To explore this idea, the authors applied a connectionist model of sentence production to the development and use of abstract syntax. The model makes use of (a) error-based learning to acquire and adapt sequencing mechanisms and (b) meaning-form mappings to derive syntactic representat…
Word-Form Encoding in Mandarin Chinese as Assessed by the Implicit Priming Task
Effect of Ambiguity and Lexical Availability on Syntactic and Lexical Production
Structural Priming as Implicit Learning
Lexical access in aphasic and nonaphasic speakers.
An interactive 2-step theory of lexical retrieval was applied to the picture-naming error patterns of aphasic and nonaphasic speakers. The theory uses spreading activation in a lexical network to accomplish the mapping between the conceptual representation of an object and the phonological form of the word naming the object. A model developed from the theory was parameterized to fit normal error patterns. It was then "lesioned" by globally alteri…
