  • Japan in the Energy Sector of Bangladesh

Open Access•Kawsar Uddin Mahmud, Mohammad Tanzimuddin Khan•ARTICLE•Journal of Asian and African…•2026•References: 43

Japan’s energy diplomacy in South Asia and Bangladesh is a key component of its broader “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” (FOIP) strategy and “Partnership for Quality Infrastructure” initiative. It is argued that the strategies are intended to ensure energy security, promote sustainable growth, and enhance regional connectivity through significant Official Development Assistance (ODA) and private sector investment. Given that Japan has significantly i…

  • A comparative analysis between the Rohingyas and Urdu-speaking population in Bangladesh

Open Access•Mohammad Tanzimuddin Khan, Umme Wara•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Human Dynamics•2025•References: 6

Most Rohingyas are not considered Myanmar’s citizens. The infamous 1982 Citizenship Act does not accept the Rohingyas as a qualified ethnic group and strips them of their citizenship. It confirms the state’s narrative that they are ‘foreigners, ‘illegal migrants’, or ‘Bengalis.’ The precariousness of their legal identity continues to loom large even though they took refuge in Bangladesh, crossing international boundaries. The host government has …

  • Dealing with the Rohingya crisis

    Open Access•Mohammad Tanzimuddin Khan, Saima Ahmed•ARTICLE•Asian Journal of Comparative…•2019•Cited by: 2•References: 2

This article explores the causes of the United Nations’ inertia in dealing with the Rohingya crisis since its beginning in August 2017. Here we argue that the United Nations' inherent structural weaknesses contribute to its indecisiveness in taking any effective and timely measures when faced with a humanitarian crisis. We further argue that weaknesses of the United Nations have their origins in the creation of the organization and its sole depen…

  • Theoretical frameworks in political ecology and participatory nature/forest conservation

    Open Access•Mohammad Tanzimuddin Khan, Mohammad Khan•ARTICLE•Journal of Political Ecology•2013•Cited by: 9•References: 16

In this paper I review the major theoretical approaches to political ecology, and then introduce a research tool. The critical moment is a noticeable historical instance or interaction. Given the fluidity in the theoretical frameworks of political ecology and the growing dominance of participatory discourse, exploring critical moments provides a foundation for a heterodox approach to explaining human/society/nature relations. It is a way to uncov…

  • The Nishorgo Support Project, the Lawachara National Park, and the Chevron seismic survey

Open Access•Mohammad Tanzimuddin Khan, Mohammad Khan•ARTICLE•Journal of Political Ecology•2010

The paper focuses on the operation of a forest conservation project, the USAID-funded Nishorgo Support Project, and its operations in the Lawachhara National Park, Srimangal, Moulvibazar District, Bangladesh. The project has instituted a collaborative management approach. The participants include both state and non-state actors including the Bangladesh Government, the USAID, IUCN, NGOs, and local communities. In 2008 Chevron conducted a seismic s…
