  • Strategic Planning and Resilience in Large‐Scale Sporting Events

Open Access•Hassan Farhat, Guillaume Alinier et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Contingencies and…•2025•References: 23

Large‐scale sporting events, such as the Asian Football Cup (AFC), present significant public health challenges due to the influx of spectators and the strain on the host country's healthcare infrastructure. Effective healthcare delivery and emergency preparedness during such events necessitate meticulous planning, coordination, and resource allocation. This study aimed to report on Qatar's healthcare systems, strategies, and planning measures im…

  • Evaluating the Performance of Agreement Metrics in a Delphi Study on Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Major Incidents Preparedness Using Classical and Machine Learning Approaches

    Open Access•Hassan Farhat, Alan M Batt et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Contingencies and…•2025•References: 36

Delphi studies in disaster medicine lack consensus on expert agreement metrics. This study examined various metrics using a Delphi study on chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) preparedness in the Middle East and North Africa region. Forty international disaster medicine experts evaluated 133 items across ten CBRN Preparedness Assessment Tool themes using a 5‐point Likert scale. Agreement was measured using Kendall's W, Intracla…

  • The 2024 French guidelines for scenario design in simulation-based education

Open Access•Guillaume Der Sahakian, Maxime de Varenne et al.•ARTICLE•Medical Education Online•2024

We trust that these guidelines will prove valuable to educators seeking to implement simulation-based education and contribute to the standardization of scenarios for healthcare students and professionals. This standardization aims to facilitate communication, comparison of practices and collaboration across different learning and healthcare institutions

  • Epidemiological Determinants of Patient Non-Conveyance to the Hospital in an Emergency Medical Service Environment

Open Access•Hassan Farhat, Cyrine Abid et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2023

Despite exercising a cautious protocol by encouraging patient transportation to hospital, patient non-conveyance seems to be a problem in the healthcare system that strains the pre-hospital medical response teams' resources. Policies and regulations should be adopted to encourage individuals to access other primary care centers when required rather than draining emergency services for non-emergency situations

  • Ethnic differences in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest among Middle Eastern Arabs and North African populations living in Qatar

Furqan B Irfan, Maaret Castrén et al.•ARTICLE•Ethnicity and Health•2018

Aims: There are very few studies comparing epidemiology and outcomes of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) in different ethnic groups. Previous ethnicity studies have mostly determined OHCA differences between African American and Caucasian populations. The aim of this study was to compare epidemiology, clinical presentation, and outcomes of OHCA between the local Middle Eastern Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Arab and the migrant North African…

  • Redefining Simulation Fidelity for Healthcare Education

    Open Access•Jimmy Kyaw Tun, Guillaume Alinier et al.•ARTICLE•Simulation & Gaming•2015•Cited by: 2•References: 1

Background. Fidelity - an intrinsic property of simulation is crucial to simulation design and to educational effectiveness. Yet the term fidelity is inconsistently used, which makes it difficult to draw inferences from current literature and translate research into practice. Aim. In this article, we attempt to bring some clarity to the term simulation fidelity in healthcare education. Method. We are opposed to the notion that high-fidelity simul…
