  • External brain morphology in rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta)

    Open Access•L W Konigsberg, Lyle Konigsberg et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Evolution•1990•Cited by: 2•References: 12

  • Endocranial suture closure in rhesus macaques ( Macaca mulatta )

    Open Access•D Falk, L W Konigsberg et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1989•Cited by: 10•References: 17

Endocasts from skulls of 330 rhesus monkeys ( Macaca mulatta ) of known age are scored for closure of nine bilateral and three unilateral sutures or segments of sutures. A variety of tests reveals a strong relationship between age and stages of suture closure, although increasingly broad confidence intervals prevent sutures from being very useful for precisely aging older macaques. The order in which endosutures begin to close, as well as that in…

  • The measurement of form and variation in form

    Open Access•James M Cheverud, James Cheverud et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•1983•Cited by: 18•References: 25

D'Arcy Thompson developed a method of coordinates which allowed for a geometrical presentation of form and form change. While his grid transformations have received much attention, little work in the geometry of form and form change has occurred since. We present a three‐dimensional nonhomogeneous finite‐element scaling method which allows for the mathematical and geometrical measurement of form change in addition to the graphical representation …
