  • Endocranial capacity of the Bodo cranium determined from three‐dimensional computed tomography

    Open Access•Glenn C Conroy, Gerhard W Weber et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Physical…•2000

The 600,000-year-old cranium from Bodo, Ethiopia, is the oldest and most complete early Middle Pleistocene hominid skull from Africa. “Virtual endocast” models created by three-dimensional computed tomography (CT) techniques indicate an endocranial capacity of about 1,250 cc for this cranium (with a reasonable range between ∼1,200–1,325 cc, depending on how missing portions of the basicranial region are reconstructed). From these determinations, …

  • Trigonometric analysis of the Human Median Sagittal Plane and its applications in reconstruction and phylogeny

    Open Access•Horst Seidler, Gerhard‐Wilhelm Weber et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•1995

By means of a new method of measurement which defines a total of eight measuring points along the median sagittal plane of the skull, methodical aspects are explained. The advantages of this method consist in its easy use and exact reproducibility of the calculated data thus obtained. On account of the fact that it permits to obtain the median sagittal plane of the skull by means of points of a cartesian system of coordinate, phylogenetic compari…

  • "New Findings on the Tyrolean "Ice Man: Archaeological and CT-Body Analysis Suggest Personal Disaster Before Death

Open Access•Dieter Zur Nedden, Klaus Wicke et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science•1994•Cited by: 7

  • A new approach to measure the geometry of the neurocranium

Horst Seidler, Harald Wilfing et al.•ARTICLE•Zeitschrift für Morphologie und…•1992

A simple and user-friendly model for trigonometric description of the neurocranium based on newly defined points of measurement is presented. This model not only provides individual description, but also allows for an evaluation of developmental and phylogenetic aspects.
