Punktike ja palatalisatsioon. Lähivaade XIX sajandi esimese poole kirjaviisiuuendusele
Palatalization is not indicated in standard Estonian orthography. In the 1820s, Otto Wilhelm Masing proposed marking palatalization with a small dot placed beneath the vowel preceding the palatalized consonant. This article examines the extent to which Masing’s proposal was adopted and explores the reasons why the palatalization mark ultimately failed to become part of standard written Estonian. Masing also introduced the letter õ to distinguish …

Language Attitudes of Parents with Russian L1 in Tartu
In 2023, the authors conducted a qualitative study in five bilingual educational institutions (two general education schools and three kindergartens) in Tartu, Estonia, undergoing a transition to Estonian-medium education. The empirical material for this qualitative research was collected during ten discussion evenings with Russian L1 parents, with around 300 attendees. Previously, youth language in Estonia has not been the subject of much research. Yet scholarly attention to teenage langua…
Sissevaade noortekeele uurimisse Eestis. Üldist ja üksikasjalikku
Noorte keelepruugi süsteemsem kogumine ja uurimine Eestis sai Andrus Saareste eestvedamisel alguse sadakond aastat tagasi. Üks esimesi teadusajakirja veergudele jõudnud ülevaateid oli Clarissa Alliku (1928) analüüs Tallinna 14–16-aastaste tüdrukute keelest. Noorte keelepruugi järjepidevam uurimine on meil olnud lünklik.
