Based on the principles of open innovation and collaborative governance, they emerge as hybrid institutions for the co-production of policies. However, we still know little about the features that define them and their scope. This article aims to provide more information about what happens inside these spaces through a specific experience: the fourth edi…
Come together?’ Citizens and civil servants dialogue and trust
Trust is a key element in the co‐creation of solution for public problems. Working together is a gradual learning exercise that helps to shape emotions and attitudes and to create the foundations of trust. However, little is known about how institutions can promote trust. With the intention of going deeper into the subject, this paper focuses on a local experience in Spain: Madrid Escucha, a City Council initiative aimed at stimulating dialogue b…

To what extent football might be useful as an element which articulates national identity? This question constitutes the background on which this paper aims to provide an analysis of the relationship between the Spanish football national team and the idea of nation, within a context characterized by the increasing territorial and identity tension that affects the country, after the outbreak of a profound political, economic and social crisis that…
After the adoption of the Montecristi Constitution in 2008, a new period was opened in the recent history of Ecuador with the establishment of a plurinational state. Its reflection in institutions, public policies and mechanisms of participation is creating a context of strong tensions within the system, mainly between two actors that initially seemed to be natural allies: the government of Rafael Correa and CONAIE, the country’s main indigenous …
