  • Impact of Data-Driven Feedback and Coaching on Preservice Teachers’ Questioning Skills for Higher-Order Thinking within a Mixed-Reality Simulation Environment

    Open Access•Wes J DeSantis, Marcia A B Delcourt et al.•ARTICLE•Education Sciences•2023

In this exploratory study, constructs related to self-efficacy theory were embedded in a treatment to improve the use of higher-order thinking (HOT) questioning skills in candidates enrolled in a teaching-methods course enhanced by mixed-reality simulations (MRS). The problem of designing an effective feedback and coaching model to improve the delivery of HOT questions in 10 min lessons was addressed. Thirty undergraduates were asked to incorpora…

  • Pre-Service Teachers' Coping and Anxiety within Mixed-Reality Simulations

    Open Access•Steven Anton, Steven R Anton et al.•ARTICLE•Social Sciences•2023•Cited by: 1•References: 42

The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of time in Mixed-Reality Simulations (MRS) on anxiety levels and coping for pre-service teachers (PSTs). A convergent parallel mixed-methods design was utilized. For each pair of matched observations on both levels for both surveys, no statistically significant difference was found. Three finding statements emerged from the qualitative data: (a) participants experienced anxiety surrounding t…

  • Gifted and Nongifted Students’ Reasons for Leaving French-Immersion Programs

Susan R Karovitch, Bruce M Shore et al.•ARTICLE•Gifted and Talented International•1996

This study investigated gifted and nongifted students’ reasons for dropping out of second-language immersion programs, in this instance, in French. In contrast to some earlier findings, gifted students were less likely to withdraw from French-immersion programs than nongifted students. The gifled students who left French immersion were more likely to switch into enriched or accelerated programs. The nongified were more likely to switch into regul…

  • Construct and Criterion-Related Validity of the Adult-Attitudes toward Computers Survey for a Sample of Professional Nurses

    Open Access•Dee Coover, Marcia A B Delcourt•ARTICLE•Educational and Psychological…•1992

While the literature indicates that attitudes towards computers and associated technologies needs further investigation in health care environments, there is a lack of formal research directed towards determining how professional nurses view the impact of computers in their work setting. The purposes of this study were to locate a valid instrument for assessing nurses' attitudes toward computers and to examine nurses' attitudes in relation to sel…
