  • A mixed methods evaluation of capturing and sharing practitioner experience for improving local tobacco control strategies

Open Access•Jennifer Boyko, Barbara Riley et al.•ARTICLE•Canadian Journal of Public Health•2018•References: 15

DoP reports are useful to public health practitioners working in tobacco control within Ontario; refinements to development and dissemination processes will enhance use. Future studies and adaptations of DoP reports could help improve use of practitioner experience as one source of evidence informing public health practice

  • Moving towards a new vision: Implementation of a public health policy intervention

Open Access•Ruta Valaitis, Marjorie MacDonald et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2016

Multiple factors influenced public health policy implementation. Results provide empirical support for components of Greenhalgh et al's framework and suggest two additional components - the role of external organizational collaborations and partnerships as well as planning processes in influencing implementation. These are important to consider by government and public health organizations when promoting new or revised public health policies as t…

  • Integrated knowledge translation (IKT) in health care: A scoping review

    Open Access•Anna R Gagliardi, Whitney Berta et al.•ARTICLE•Implementation Science•2015

BACKGROUND: Integrated knowledge translation (IKT) refers to collaboration between researchers and decision-makers. While advocated as an approach for enhancing the relevance and use of research, IKT is challenging and inconsistently applied. This study sought to inform future IKT practice and research by synthesizing studies that empirically evaluated IKT and identifying knowledge gaps. METHODS: We performed a scoping review. We searched MEDLINE…

  • Evaluating deliberative dialogues focussed on healthy public policy

    Open Access•John N Lavis, Jennifer A Boyko et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2014

Our findings reinforce the promise of deliberative dialogues as a strategy for supporting evidence-informed public health policies. Additional work is needed to understand more about which design elements work in which situations and for different issues, and whether intention to use research evidence is a suitable substitute for measuring actual behaviour change

  • Comparison of the Use of Self-Report Surveys and Organizational Documents in Knowledge Translation Research

Jennifer A Boyko, Jennifer Boyko et al.•ARTICLE•Canadian Journal of Program…•2013

We compared the same outcome data obtained from two different sources (self-report surveys and organizational documents) in order to examine their relative performance in evaluating the effect of knowledge translation strategies on evidence-informed decision-making. Our data came from a randomized controlled trial that evaluated the impact of knowledge translation strategies on promoting evidence-informed decision-making in public health units ac…

  • Mi??ing Data: Should We C?re

Ofer Harel, Jennifer Boyko•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•2013•Cited by: 1•References: 3

Across all fields of research, the issue of missing data arises. In most studies, surveys, or experiments, there are instances of nonresponse that need to be appropriately dealt with to conduct reasonable statistical analyses. There are several types of missing data as well as ways to deal with incomplete data sets

  • Deliberative dialogues as a mechanism for knowledge translation and exchange in health systems decision-making
