  • Reconstructing the Social Construction of Reality

    Open Access•Norman M Fraser, Norman Fraser et al.•ARTICLE•British Journal of Sociology•2025•Cited by: 1•References: 18

What is the relationship between legitimation and institutionalization? We take a fresh look at a more complex and nuanced landscape than has previously been documented. Our approach is to view legitimation and institutionalization as separate, though related, processes. We engage in theory building to develop a typology suggesting four different ways in which the social construction of reality can be achieved: instantiating (mutual causal emerge…

  • Russian noun stress and network morphology

Open Access•Dunstan Brown, Greville G Corbett et al.•ARTICLE•Linguistics•1996•Cited by: 9

We present a network morphology analysis of Russian noun stress. Nouns have a default fixed stem stress, but some nouns have nondefault stress that may deviate in a way that is determined by the form’s position within the paradigm: different declensions prefer particular patterns as their nondefault choices. Membership of a particular declension, it is argued, constrains the rang eof possible stress patterns. Stress is represented as a hierarchy …

  • Network Morphology: A Datr account of Russian nominal inflection

    Open Access•Greville G Corbett, Norman M Fraser et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Linguistics•1993•Cited by: 24•References: 2

In this paper we introduce a declarative approach to inflectional morphology, which we call Network Morphology, using the lexical representation language DATR. We show that we can account for a range of (Russian) data, for which previously various rule types were required, and can provide a more satisfying analysis than was previously available. First we outline the essential data (section 2), highlighting the problems they present. Section 3 int…
