The relationship between early life adversity and hoarding
This study aimed to explore the relationship between early life adversity and hoarding among college students, as well as to investigate its underlying mechanisms through two sub‐studies. Study 1 recruited 1186 college students to complete questionnaires. The results of mediation analysis revealed that early life adversity not only directly predicted hoarding behaviour but also increased hoarding behaviour by promoting faster life history strateg…
Workplace violence and sleep disorders in emergency nurses
Background: Emergency nurses are at high risk of experiencing workplace violence (WPV), a significant global issue. Violence negatively impacts nurses' sleep quality. Objective: To investigate the prevalence of workplace violence and sleep disorders among emergency department (ED) nurses, and to explore their interrelationship, thereby providing evidence for developing strategies to reduce WPV and improve sleep quality. Methods: A stratified clus…
The positive effect of perceived social support and moral resilience between moral injury and health-related productivity loss among emergency nurses
Background: Emergency nurses frequently experience moral injury (MI) arising from high-risk ethical conflicts, heavy workloads, and exposure to traumatic events, which can contribute to health-related productivity loss (HRPL). However, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Crucially, perceived social support and moral resilience may mediate this relationship by mitigating negative effects. Clarifying the mediating roles of perceived social su…
Parenting behaviors and deviant peer affiliation among Chinese adolescents
Given the negative impact of deviant peer affiliation on adolescent behavioral development, understanding its underlying mechanisms is essential. Drawing on social development model, psychological reactance theory and adolescent-limited delinquency theory, this study examined the relationship between parenting behaviors and adolescents' deviant peer affiliation, as well as the mediating role of reactance and the moderating role of gender. The res…
Underlying mechanisms of Traditional Chinese Medicine in treating metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis
Emotional neglect and prosocial behavior among left-behind youth in China
Previous research has revealed that left-behind children-those under 18 whose parents have migrated for work for a period of six months or more, leaving them behind in their hometown-face higher levels of emotional neglect. This neglect primarily exacerbates negative psychological outcomes. However, its adverse effects on positive psychological functioning, such as resilience and prosocial behavior, in left-behind youth have not been fully explor…
An herbal formulation “Shugan Xiaozhi decoction” ameliorates methionine/choline deficiency-induced nonalcoholic steatohepatitis through regulating inflammation and apoptosis-related pathways
SGXZ decoction can treat NASH through multiple targets and pathways. These findings provide new insights into the effective treatment of NASH using SGXZ decoction
Translation, cultural adaptation, and validation of the Chinese standardized outcomes in nephrology–hemodialysis fatigue (C-Song–HD fatigue) scale
Association between pro-inflammatory diet and liver cancer risk
Objective: This systematic review aimed to investigate the association between dietary inflammatory potential and liver cancer to provide evidence regarding scientific dietary health education. Design: Systematic review and meta-analysis. Setting: A comprehensive literature review was conducted to identify case–control or cohort studies that involved dietary inflammation index (DII)/empirical dietary inflammation pattern (EDIP) and liver cancer i…
Lower hydration status increased diabetic retinopathy among middle-aged adults and older adults
Background: Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a common complication of diabetic patients. Retinal physiological function is affected by hydration status. We aimed to explore the association between hydration status and DR. Methods: National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2005-2008 was used to perform this cross-sectional study. Serum osmolality was used to assess hydration status for all participants and calculated osmolality was eva…
Health Risk Assessment Indicators for the Left-Behind Elderly in Rural China
In China, many young and middle-aged rural residents move to urban areas each year. The rural elderly are left behind. The number of the rural left-behind elderly is increasing with urbanization, but it is unclear which indicators can be used to assess their health condition. The health risk assessment index system was developed to improve the health level of the rural left-behind elderly. A two-round web-based Delphi process was used to organize…
Medical professionalism among clinical physicians in two tertiary hospitals, China
In order to investigate medical professional attitudes and behaviors in China and explore the influencing factors with a focus on hospital internal management, we developed a 13-item professional attitudes and 11-item behaviors inventory. Self-administered questionnaires were distributed to 390 physicians mainly in four specialties in two tertiary Chinese hospitals in 2011. 306 completed questionnaires were collected. More than 90% of respondents…
Failing Fictions
The development of two-dimensional (2D) photocatalysts with excellent visible light absorption and favorable band alignment is critical for highly-efficient water splitting. Here we systematically study the structural, electronic and optical properties of an experimentally unexplored 2D Silicon Diphosphide (SiP2) based on density functional theory (DFT). We found that the single-layer SiP2 is highly feasible to obtain experimentally by mechanical…
