  • Determinants of work-related musculoskeletal disorders among coal miners in Jining, China: Development of a predictive risk model

Open Access•Jiali Li, Xuemei Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2026

Background Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSD) are highly prevalent among coal miners and pose a significant threat to occupational health. Understanding the underlying risk factors and developing a predictive model for WMSD risk can help to mitigate WMSD. Objective To identify key determinants of WMSD among coal miners in Jinang, China, and construct a predictive model to assess risk. Methods One thousand four hundred nine coal miners …

  • VGGT-Geo: Probabilistic Geometric Fusion of Visual Geometry Grounded Transformer Priors for Robust Dense Indoor SLAM

Open Access•Kai Qin, Jing Li et al.•ARTICLE•ISPRS International Journal of…•2026

With the rapid evolution of Digital Twins and Embodied AI, achieving fast, dense, and high-precision 3D perception in unknown environments has become paramount. However, existing Visual SLAM paradigms face a critical dilemma: geometry-based methods often fail in texture-less areas due to feature scarcity, while learning-based approaches frequently suffer from scale drift and unphysical deformations. To bridge this gap, we propose VGGT-Geo, a nove…

  • Home- and community-based service utilization and loneliness among older adults in China: The moderating role of elder abuse – a cross-sectional study

Open Access•Yushan Yu, Mimi Fujitaka et al.•ARTICLE•Critical Public Health•2026

Introduction: Loneliness is a major public health concern among older adults. Home- and community-based services (HCBS) are increasingly promoted to support aging in place, yet evidence on their relationship with loneliness remains limited in China, particularly among vulnerable subgroups such as older adults with histories of elder abuse. Theory: Drawing on trauma theory, this study considers elder abuse as a contextual factor that may alter how…

Open Access•Yuchen Li, Xiyan Mao et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2026

This paper investigates how multi-level policy interactions within an integrated region affect the formation of new environmental firms with the empirical case of the Yangtze River Delta in China. We define vertical interactions based on the contradiction between the grand narratives of provincial-level policies and the specific schemes of city-level policies. We define horizontal interactions based on policy cohesion and coordination among citie…

  • Modelling active travel accessibility at the micro-scale using multi-source built environment data

Open Access•Corin Staves, Irena Itova et al.•ARTICLE•Computers Environment and Urban…•2025•References: 70

Accessibility models explore how land use and transport systems interact to facilitate access to activities and daily needs. Existing applications generally model accessibility based on distance or travel time. For pedestrians and cyclists, the street-level environment (e.g., green visibility, streetside amenities, dedicated infrastructure) significantly influences people's willingness and ability to travel. Incorporating these features into acce…
