  • La transición del óptimo climático medieval a la pequeña edad de hielo a través del poblamiento

    Open Access•Leonor Parra-Aguilar, Carlos Arteaga Cardineau•ARTICLE•Espacio Tiempo y Forma Serie III…•2023

Olduvai Gorge (Tanzania) is a key site for the study of human evolution as well as the origin of modern humans and the Middle Stone Age (MSA). In this study, we present a new MSA location named Dorothy Garrod Site (DGS), found in the main branch of Olduvai Gorge. The site has only one archaeological level, located stratigraphically in the Upper Ndutu. Although it has not yet been possible to radiometrically date it, it has yielded numerous archae…

The central Meseta is a high plateau located in the heart of the Iberian Peninsula. Abundant evidence of Lower and Middle Palaeolithic occupations of the region contrasts with scarce evidence of a human presence during the early Upper Palaeolithic. On this basis, it has been suggested that climatic downturns triggered the temporary abandonment, or near abandonment, of the central Meseta during the Last Glacial period. We conducted three archaeolo…

  • The Ditched Enclosure of Camino de las Yeseras (Madrid)

Open Access•Carlos Arteaga Cardineau, Corina Liesau et al.•ARTICLE•Espacio Tiempo y Forma Serie I…•2017

This article contains a progress report on the sedimentological studies on ditched enclosures 4 and 6 from the Chalcolithic site of 'Camino de Las Yeseras’ (Madrid, Spain). Due to the natural features on which the site stands, and using different analyses (particle size, texture, x-ray diffraction, and other physico-chemical studies), we were able to differentiate natural fillings from those anthropogenic in origin and, at the same time, establis…
