Research on fire assessment during robot-assisted downhole rescue based on the fusion of human and artificial intelligence
Anthropogenic heat amplification in industrial zones: Unraveling heat stress risk heterogeneity in river-sea dual-core cities
Archaeometric study of a single lead–barium glazed pottery dog (485 − 401 BC) from the Zhu State: Technological innovation and interregional resource circulation in Eastern China
A Primer on Deep Learning for Causal Inference
This primer systematizes the emerging literature on causal inference using deep neural networks under the potential outcomes framework. It provides an intuitive introduction to building and optimizing custom deep learning models and shows how to adapt them to estimate/predict heterogeneous treatment effects. It also discusses ongoing work to extend causal inference to settings where confounding is nonlinear, time-varying, or encoded in text, netw…
Optimizing building spatial morphology to alleviate human thermal stress
Achieving urban cooling from a sustainable perspective requires strategic planning of building area (S) and height (H). However, there is a lack of human thermal stress assessment and it is not clear how to optimize the layout of building spatial morphology to alleviate human thermal stress. We simulated the Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI), characterizing high spatial resolution human comfort, by machine learning, and analyzed the relation…
Triple-dip La Niña in 2020–23: Understanding the role of the annual cycle in tropical Pacific SST
The triple-dip La Niña in 2020–23 is characterized by persisting southeasterly wind anomalies over the tropical central and eastern Pacific. Our results show that the wind anomalies are associated with the anomalously negative phase of the first two leading modes of the annual cycle (antisymmetric and symmetric modes about the equator) of sea surface temperature (SST) in the tropical Pacific. The two modes account for 82.2% and 13.5% of the total…
Is there any correlation between digital currency price fluctuation? Based on the DCC-GARCH and wavelet coherence analysis
The existing studies rarely reveal the reasons for the digital currency price fluctuation from the perspective of internal interaction and contagion. Therefore, to fill this research gap, this paper comprehensively adopts the dynamic conditional correlation (DCC-) GARCH model and wavelet coherence analysis (WTC) to reveal the internal correlation and formation reasons of digital currency price fluctuations. Our research has the following findings…
Surface treatment techniques of ceramic molds for iron casting from the late Warring States period at the ancient capital city site of Zhu state
A collection of ceramic molds for iron casting from the late Warring States period has been unearthed at the ancient capital city site of Zhu (邾) state in Zoucheng City, Shandong Province. An array of analytical techniques was employed to examine their superficial layers and coatings, including wavelength-dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry, X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy with energ…
Digital Agriculture and Urbanization: Mechanism and Empirical Research
Changing coordination between urban area with high temperature and multiple landscapes in Wuhan City, China
Will digital financial development affect the effectiveness of monetary policy in emerging market countries
Whether digital finance should be included in the quantitative framework of monetary policy in emerging market countries has been widely discussed by scholars. However, the current research just focused on a single format of digital finance, lacking comprehensive analysis at the overall level and the refinement of general rules. Therefore, this paper constructed a spatial econometric model to empirically analyze the impact of digital finance on t…
Can Increasing Scale Efficiency Curb Agricultural Nonpoint Source Pollution
The Chinese government has made great efforts to improve the scale efficiency of land through various measures during recent years, hoping to realize the coordinated developing goal of promoting agricultural benefits and protecting the environment. Statistics show that China's land scale efficiency has steadily increased, but agricultural nonpoint source (NPS) pollution has also increased, which seems contrary to the expected outcome. Can increas…
Spatial and temporal analyses of potential land use conflict under the constraints of water resources in the middle reaches of the Heihe River
Can FinTech Development Curb Agricultural Nonpoint Source Pollution
The green development of FinTech empowerment has become a compelling theme in economic development. In this study, based on the weighted least squares (WLS) and threshold regression methods of cross-sectional data, we empirically examine the impact of FinTech development on agricultural nonpoint source (NPS) pollution, a major cause of impaired surface water quality. Our results show that there is an inverted "U" shape relationship between the de…
