  • Sustainability transitions in the agri-food system

    Open Access•Eva Preinfalk, Birgit Bednar‐Friedl et al.•ARTICLE•Ecological Economics•2024•References: 4

  • Developing policy packages for low-carbon passenger transport

Open Access•Anna Dugan, Jakob Mayer et al.•ARTICLE•Ecological Economics•2021•Cited by: 1

  • Uncertainties in macroeconomic assessments of low-carbon transition pathways - The case of the European iron and steel industry

    Open Access•Gabriel Bachner, Jakob Mayer et al.•ARTICLE•Ecological Economics•2020•Cited by: 1•References: 1

The climate targets agreed in Paris 2015 render deep decarbonization of energy- and emission-intensive industries crucial. Policy makers are interested in the macroeconomic consequences of such decarbonization pathways and often rely on integrated modelling studies. However, the underlying modelling assumptions and uncertainties often remain unquestioned or invisible, although they may govern the models' results. For the case of a zero-process em…

  • Qualitative and quantitative risk assessment of expanding photovoltaics in the Netherlands

Open Access•Jakob Mayer, Wytze Van Der Gaast et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Innovation and…•2020•Cited by: 3•References: 11

Expanding photovoltaics (PV) is important for reaching Dutch renewable energy and climate targets. In this paper, we assess risks of scaling up PV in the Dutch electricity sector and economy. With a computable general equilibrium model setup to analyse scenarios until 2050, we show that increasing PV shares initially lead to higher costs of electricity supply and thus retail prices. Until 2025, large storage investments will be required, leading …

  • Risk assessment of the low-carbon transition of Austria’s steel and electricity sectors

    Open Access•Gabriel Bachner, Brigitte Wolkinger et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Innovation and…•2020•Cited by: 6•References: 21

To limit global temperature increase below +2°C, societies need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions radically within the next few decades. Amongst other mitigation measures, this requires transforming process-emission intensive industries towards emission neutrality. One way to this end is the renewables-based electrification of industries. We present results of a recent co-production process which brought together stakeholders from industry, poli…
