Back to the countryside? Remote work and counterurbanisation in Denmark and Sweden

The role of immigrant human capital in Danish second-tier towns and rural areas
This study uses data from 2009 to 2020 to explore the impact of diversified human capital (HC) among inter-regional immigrants on local economies in Denmark. Findings show that the effects of diversified HC on wages differ between urban and rural areas. Both benefit from diverse age …

By building on the cross‐border institutional thickness (CBIT) conceptual framework, the paper analyses the policy …
Tracking the carbon emissions of Denmark's five regions from a producer and consumer perspective
Labour mobility and local employment
Labour mobility and local employment: building a local employment base from labour mobility? Regional Studies. Do labour inflows contribute to job opportunities for local residents? This question is analysed based on a three-step instrumental variables (IV) estimation procedure including two-way fixed effects to control for unobserved heterogeneity by using unique panel data for the period 2006–11 in Denmark. The results show that labour inflows …
