  • Optimal forest management under climate change variability

  • Methane emissions and carbon storage from household paper disposal in Brazil during 1901-2016

Open Access•Carlos Roberto Sanquetta, Ana P Dalla Cortés et al.•ARTICLE•Desenvolvimento e Meio Ambiente•2022

In this paper, we estimated the methane emissions by the disposal of sanitary and domestic-use paper consumed throughout Brazil from 1901 to 2016. The apparent consumption of this type of paper from 1961 to 2016, calculated from the data of the FAOSTAT system, was used to estimate the amount of waste disposed of annually in three site categories: sanitary landfill, controlled dump, and open-air, uncontrolled dump. The 2006 IPCC Guide methodology …

  • Greenhouse gas emissions due to land use change in Brazil from 1990 to 2015: Comparison of Methodological Approaches

Open Access•Carlos Sanquetta, Carlos Roberto Sanquetta et al.•ARTICLE•Desenvolvimento e Meio Ambiente•2020

Net CO 2 emissions due to land-use change (LUC) resulting from the conversion of natural forest vegetation in Brazil were analyzed over 25 years (1990-2015). Recognized data sources were studied and emission values were compared. Our analysis included LUC emissions over time, which were stratified by biome. In addition, implications for the fulfillment of commitments assumed by Brazil in the Paris Agreement were discussed. Net LUC greenhouse gas …

  • Forest plantations in Southwestern Europe: A comparative trend analysis on investment returns, markets and policies

Open Access•Alex Pra, Mauro Masiero et al.•ARTICLE•Forest Policy and Economics•2019•Cited by: 1

  • Evaluating the Economic Potential of Uneven-aged Maritime Pine Forests

Open Access•Renato Rosa, Paula Soares et al.•ARTICLE•Ecological Economics•2018

  • Are forest disturbances amplifying or canceling out climate change-induced productivity changes in European forests

Open Access•Christopher Reyer, Stephen Bathgate et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2017

Recent studies projecting future climate change impacts on forests mainly consider either the effects of climate change on productivity or on disturbances. However, productivity and disturbances are intrinsically linked because 1) disturbances directly affect forest productivity (e.g. via a reduction in leaf area, growing stock or resource-use efficiency), and 2) disturbance susceptibility is often coupled to a certain development phase of the fo…

  • Analysis of the Impact of the Use of Eucalyptus Biomass for Energy on Wood Availability for Eucalyptus Forest in Portugal: A Simulation Study

    Open Access•Susana Barreiro, Margarida Tomé•ARTICLE•Conservation Ecology•2012

Barreiro, S., and M. Tomé. 2012. Analysis of the impact of the use of eucalyptus biomass for energy on wood availability for eucalyptus forest in Portugal: a simulation study. Ecology and Society 17(2): 14. https://doi.org/10.5751/ES-04642-170214

  • Contribution of cork oak plantations installed after 1990 in Portugal to the Kyoto commitments and to the landowners economy

Open Access•Marta Baptista Coelho, Joana Amaral Paulo et al.•ARTICLE•Forest Policy and Economics•2011•Cited by: 1

  • Social security law and the divorced wife in Portugal: A proposal based on the community property of acquests marital regime

    Margarida Tomé•ARTICLE•International Journal of Law…•1999

The treatment of divorced women by Portuguese social security and family law is reviewed. The limited protection offered by the social security system is noted and the limitations of the traditional treatment of assets at the breakdown of a marriage or at the point of inheritance are also observed. It is argued that Portuguese family law needs to give more attention to the 'new property' of pension rights by incorporating them into the traditiona…
